Most previous folate deficiency (FD) studies have focused independently on either liver, the main tissue of folate storage and metabolism, or brain, where folate regulates neurogenesis and programs cell death. Edge technology and Centricollation were combined with other conventional proteomics techniques, such as western blot analysis, 2DE and mass spectrometry to understand potential subcellular correlations of folate deficiency (FD) in both brain and liver of the same rat.
Edge Technology combined with 2D LC-MS/MS technique was also used for quantitative screening of specific low abundance protein biomarker candidates from control and folate deficiency (FD) rat liver samples. This technique is rapid and has high throughput capacity.
